22 July 2006 , the European Commission of Directive 2001 / 95 / EC ( general product safety directive ) a list of the standards , instead of the previously published by the official list
of all standards , relevant standards by the European standardisation organisations in accordance with the directive of the European Commission , involving the movement of equipment ,
garments , pacifiers , lighter , Bicycles , furniture ( including Murphy ) and the like product .
in accordance with the provisions of the General Product Safety Directive , the producer has the responsibility to ensure that the placing on the market of the products are safe .
This provision applies to all products sold in the market , or otherwise supplied to consumers all the products .
The authorities or the court ( in case of dispute , must according to the following factors for determining whether a product :
- the characteristics of products , including ingredients , packaging and assembly , installation and maintenance instructions ;
- appearance , comprising a label that is related to the use , disposal of any warning or explanation , and any other instructions or data ( such as manufacturer information ) ;
- products which are likely to pose a risk to the consumer categories ( children or the elderly ) .
Manufacturer must accept the responsibility for ensuring that the market and sales of the product is safe and reliable , for example , provide information and warnings , in addition ,
if the product could be dangerous , the manufacturer must take appropriate action , e.g . the product from the market to recover , given a sufficient or effective warning to the consumer ,
or consumer products .
