Australia regulates e-cigarettes based on prescription drugs from October 1, 2021
release time :2021-12-25 18:49:17
The Australian Drug Administration (TGA) announced earlier that from October 1, 2021, all commercially available nicotine evacuation products (e-cigarettes) will be
prescribed drugs in accordance with the "Drugs Act 1989-Schedule 4 of Toxic Standards" Property supervision. This means that it is illegal to import nicotine pumps
from overseas websites without a valid prescription from an Australian doctor, and consumers need to have a valid doctor's prescription to buy nicotine pumps from
Australian pharmacies.
Overseas manufacturers should fulfill their obligations
Australian importers must ensure that the nicotine pumping products produced abroad meet the necessary standards for import and supply, in particular, they need to
keep records proving that the product meets the requirements of the "Medicine (Nicotine Pumping Product Standard)" (TGO 110). Therefore, they may require foreign
manufacturers to provide TGO 110 compliance declarations and related certification materials.
TGO 110 related requirements
The standard stipulates requirements for the composition, labeling, child-proof packaging (CRP), record keeping and selective compliance of nicotine pumping products.
It will be implemented on October 1, 2021. We introduced the standard to you in July this year. Please click the link below to view the product requirements in the standard.

Supplement
a. The "vaping device" mentioned in this article also refers to the "electronic cigarette device", which is different from the English expression of "e-cigarette" in the EU TPD.
Both Australian and New Zealand regulations use the English "Vaping Product"-"pumping". "Smoking products" refers to "electronic cigarette products".
b. TGA: Therapeutic Goods Administration Australian Drug Administration.
Australia’s e-cigarette regulations are controlled from the market sales side, narrowing the scope of the main body of supply, and increasing the difficulty for consumers
to obtain e-cigarettes, and the control is very strong. E-cigarette manufacturers interested in the Australian market should earnestly fulfill their e-cigarette product compliance
obligations, understand the country’s regulatory requirements as early as possible, and promptly prepare documents and materials required for customs clearance for use by
relevant parties in the supply chain.
